thanks, I shouldn’t have said VDD, I only meant to name the specific metal trace that will become power rail. While I understand the basic principle, I think I’m failing to see the discharge path would be for this example. In the case of a pure poly resistor I don’t see the connection to the substrate, I could think it may be safe if the taps are placed close enough, not sure that can always be the case.
