@User: You have to understand magic's representation of vias. Magic prefers to auto-generate a lot of layers instead of explicitly representing them. Contact cuts are among those layers it prefers to auto-generate. Think of a contact in magic as a "contact area", much like a "VIA GENERATE" in a LEF technology file. You draw the area, and magic fills it in with contact cuts. If you want to see where the contact cuts are, you can use, e.g., "cif see CONT" (or "VIA1" or "VIA2" or ...).
