Thanks @User. So that thought came to mind based on some old graywolf placer syntax, but now I'm thinking (or struggling) why is there a reverse syntax. We could just list the pins in the reversed order

The * will match in forward order, reverse reverses it. You could not use a wildcard and list all in reverse order though

It would make more sense to apply the reverse to each wildcard rather than an entire side.

Seems like an opportunity to create a syntax and have a scripted tool generate the pin order config file that will have all pins explicitly listed and only the basic N,S,E,W directions. Then the pin order config file has no interpretations. It just is
