Is it okay to design with Cadence software and still submit on the MPW runs? If the gds files are published open source?
m
The "design" needs to be open source which would include design inputs: verilog, netlist, schematic, etc.
a
So if I post all of these as an OA database from cadence is that fine?
m
I doubt it. OA requires NDAs to get access
Despite being "Open" Access, it is not very open
a
@Alexander Sheldon Convert your OA to EDIF for schematics and publish it.
I think that should do it.
Adding to this the GDS, netlist files and all the other stuff
That’s my take on it.
@Matthew Guthaus BTW OA is an open standard and own by any company. But I know that Cadence was driving it’s development and it has it’s own constructs.

@Amro Tork OpenAccess is open like in Open UNIX. I was advized to not sign the agreement to get access to the OpenAccess reference implementation as it would forbid use of the code in open source software.

@FatsieFS I didn't read the license in details to be honest here. But thanks for the highlight.
