Also why not implement the GUI like KLayout, not some weird "box" tool? It's annoying to use. There is many more things that is annoying in Magic VLSI. Any hopes for this to get fixed? No layer presets is also annoying. Cant hide layers that are empty, pretty annoying. It also creates an (UNNAMED) cell everytime I load a GDS.

On the options menu, you can

Hide toolbar locked

to reduce the number of displayed layers. You get used to remembering about where the layers are and mouse over to find the right one.
