@User sounds good. I was already planning basically the same thing anyway. Although starting with transmit since that's always easier. I was also planning on combining it with a fully open source DVB-S2(X) stack that we're implementing on a different OS project. In the first shuttle I submitted a fractional N PLL with second order MASH modulator and dither etc. If sims are to be believed it has a tuning range of 1.3 - 3.6 GHz. It uses a differential ring oscillator as the VCO since I steered clear of inductors for the first submission. So it's power hungry. I'm currently working on a inductor design setup that's nearing completion so I can add some LC topologies to the next submission and get some better performance.
