the reason I'm a bit stuck on this is to do with the simulation. If I want to use an external pin as a reset, first the cpu has to set this up. And that takes quite a lot of cycles. Then the reset has to come from the testbench as it's an external signal - so you have to sync the testbench with when the gpio is actually active
