@User: My main concern with removing the parentheses is that it would screw up expressions like ``MPRJ_IO_PADS*3`. Although I see only one such case, I tend to suggest using the form `{

MPRJ_IO_PADS{1'b0}}

because that's what's used elsewhere in the verilog for Caravel.
