@User: I added an option in magic to rename cells in the database when duplicate cell names are found in a GDS file, and I reworked the Makefile for open_pdks so that it uses that option when creating the SRAM macro library. I have convinced myself that the resulting .mag and .gds views are all self-consistent, but it will need to be tried and tested. In the worst case, something like your image above cannot happen without flagging lots and lots of DRC errors, so it won't go unnoticed.
