@User: I do not think that it does extraction/LVS. The DRC rule encoding has been tested only lightly. We are using it in the precheck for Caravel to check various layers that magic considers "correct by design" because it generates them automatically; but we don't insist that GDS files submitted for the MPW are generated by magic, so we have to have a way to check DRC on those layers, and it was easier to use klayout rather than write a separate tech file for magic. We are only exercising some simple width and spacing rules.
