@User: This is very typical for a full-chip design. DRC bar being yellow means that the DRC checker is running, and that is what is slowing magic down. You can turn off drc by adding "drc off" to the .magicrc file, or running that command before reading the GDS. Also you can switch to a simpler set of drc checks by doing "drc style drc(routing)". Or you can just wait for magic to finish running DRC, which for a full chip takes maybe 10 minutes or so, depending on how much layout there is (note that I have been fixing some problems in magic recently related to slow handling of DRC, extraction, and GDS recently, so having the most recent version of magic is critical).
