@User: Re: DEF; Correcting a standard cell placement is tricky in numerous ways; essentially magic would have to not only understand all the paths, but also any exceptions caused by nondefault rules or tapers or whatever. . . it is probably true that openlane only generates "standard" routes, although it might end up adding additional geometry around the taps if they don't cleanly land on a route grid intersection. Anyway, it would take quite a lot of work to map the DEF description directly into magic while retaining DEF's concept of nets.
