Creating something that acts like a fuse is probably pretty straightforward. Mostly it's just poly with a big current passed through and a sense amp. Creating compact and reliable fuses would be a bit more work. Poly fuses have a tendency to become 'unblown' over time due to crystal regrow. All depends on your application and requirements I suppose
