OK it looks like maybe the

.option scale

this is what's causing my problems as well. If I change the

l=1u w=5u

to

l=1 w=5

, the error goes away. Can someone with Spice knowledge confirm that this is how the library is supposed to be used, ie it sets scale so lengths are interpreted as um?
