Yeah, that mirrors my feelings. I didn't expect the matching to be as important apart from maybe things IQ imbalance I suppose. For the example above the dummy gates are connected to source so if you're grounding source then it won't really hurt you. But for a floating source there's a whole load of parasitics so I guess you just need to be sensible and choose the device/layout based on how you're gonna use just like anything else really
