@Rita:  Yes, you can just paint metal between the transistors;  also, there is an interactive "wire tool"; if you press the space bar, the cursor cycles through several "tools" which change the behavior of the mouse buttons.  The default is the "box tool" that lets you use the mouse buttons to change the cursor box, which can be used to tell magic where to paint something.  The 2nd tool is the "wire tool", where you can use the left mouse button to pick an existing point, then drag and click to add wire segments.  Use shift + mouse buttons to place contacts and move up or down a layer.  Once you get used to the interface, it's very quick to wire up components.
