Does anyone know if the computational cost of the BEOL step during precheck depends on the number of individual contacts/VIAs or the number of VIA rectangles? Is there a difference if we add levels of hierarchy? We had a design that passed precheck and we added some big VIA areas (pads), but the GDS file size increased too much and we couldn't upload it to git. Then we made the pads as matrices of smaller cells and managed to reduce the file size, but now the precheck gets stuck in the BEOL step.
