@User @User Please can you address bug #1? https://github.com/FPGA-Research-Manchester/FABulous/issues/1
j
Yes, we notice this issue for a while and you may listen from Dirk as well in previous email. Do you know if we should put the university name in the copy right? If we put our own names, will it be any issues?
r
So, the way it works is the Copyright holder should be in the copyright notice. Copyright notices should be in the individual files.
Who is the copyright owner depends on the terms under which you are working - if you are an employee of the university, or the university has contracted you to do the work, then its likely the uni is the copyright holder
if you’re just a student, the work is yours
(if you have a PhD paid for by the uni, then its probably the unis. If you paid for the phd funding yourself, it’s probably yours.
So for example, assuming you are a self-funded phd, and Nguyen is paid research staff, a file you have both contributed to should have:
# Copyright 2020-2021 The University of Manchester
# Copyright 2020-2021 Jing Yu <your-email-address>
thats seperate to teh license file, which should just be a top level file called LICENSE, with your choice of license in it
I would reccommend the Apache License Version-2.0. You could copy the LICENSE file from openlane, for example
j
Thank you Rob. That's really help. I will create the License file asap.
Hi Rob, I noticed the LICENSE file from openlane has a specific copyright line to efabless corporation. That's why I put the copyright line in our repository as well.

An understandable mistake then!. I’ll submit a PR for openlane (@Tim 'mithro' Ansell )
Btw, you’re doing a great job of PRs and using community reviewing so far, keep up the good work!

Thank you 😃
