@User (@User): It was something I discovered recently when working with "large enough" cells (digital mostly; hard to make an analog circuit the side needed to trigger the problem). Magic's extraction is done "cookie-cutter style" by breaking the design into a grid and working through it square by square. I found out that it can't see that nets like power and ground are crossing through multiple of these regions, and it counts them multiple times. I addressed that with an update to magic last week, so if you get the most recent version, the problem should be fixed.
