The grid setting (i.e., using the "grid" command) is for reference only and can be anything that you find convenient to do layout with. The "lambda" grid (which is fixed) is 0.01um x 0.01um, and the internal grid is 0.005um x 0.005um (which can be changed, but 0.005um is the manufacturing minimum grid and is the natural setting for the internal grid). You can "snap" to any of these grids using the "snap" command (e.g., "snap internal" or "snap grid").
