Hi, we had an IP for SRAM from efabless which was not opensource. Has that changed now n is there IP for sram available with gds n verified ? @Mitch Bailey
d
@samarth jain That IP is no longer available for new designs.
s
Is there any alternative which I can try?
d
The only RAMs I know of are the open source rams. I had fixed the select DRC errors in a few of the precompiled macros.

Can u share the link pls? how they r different from efabless ones

https://github.com/VLSIDA/OpenRAM @samarth jain I don’t think they’ve been production verified.

@samarth jain the differences are considerable. The commercial macro was created by a custom RAM company and is probably on over a billion SoCs by now. The bit cell and periphery logic are for sure. The commercial SRAM cell and the precursor Skywater technology used as the basic for Sky130 were developed together. The OS SRAM has a different bit cell, but that doesn't mean the the OS ones won't retain data. The periphery is very different. The opensource RAMs are not area efficient. Lots of open area. The logic is also laid out "unrobustly". Wide fets, few contacts, and LI routing. I have heard of customers with working OS SRAMs on silicon. As far as I know they have only been used in prototyping.

Is it not possible to buy the commercial macro now directly from vendor? @David Lindley ?
d
@samarth jain Unlikely. They won't want to deal with individuals and it isn't worth their time for the $$ Efabless charged for it.
