Hi need some help in #C016YSAP6TZ, i created a poly resistor through devices 2 tab. But for some reason i cannot edit this layout (move, delete, etc.). It's only possible to edit after making a copy of itself. Can you share some workaround for this? Thanks. Slack Conversation
Hi @Tim Edwards @Mitch Bailey requesting your assistance to this query. Thanks a lot!

@John Reginald Maligaya Sorry, I’m not that familiar with the gui.
r
imported cells behave differently than cells in the current level of layout hierarchy. you can select them with
i
and move them around with the normal moves after that. if you make a copy like you're doing now you pull it into the current hierarchy level so any edits will only be made to that instance. you can also edit a sub-cell, in the
cell
menu, you can find a down / up hierarchy button that allows you to navigate through the design hierarchy. There you can also find the
e
shortcut that allows you to edit the sub-cell directly.

@John Reginald Maligaya: The message "you selected paint outside the edit cell" merely means that you selected the internal geometry of a subcell instead of a subcell itself. What you want to do is use the "i" key (for "instance") to select the cell itself, or use the command "select area subcell". If you then type "e" for "edit", you can edit the subcell in place, or you can type ">" to descend into the subcell (make the subcell the top level) and edit it. However, if the subcell is a generated cell (a.k.a. "pcell"), then you should not edit it directly, but select the subcell and type "Ctrl-p" to bring up the parameter dialog window, and use that to modify the device.
