process question. Abutting tap and diffusion are effectively shorted due to salicide even though one is p+ and the other is n+, right?

isnt it just a diode?

My understanding is that ever since they started adding salicide on top of tap/diffusion, the anode and cathode of the underlying P/N junction would be shorted.
