Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out if it is possible to use custom-standardcells with mimcap (connection on met4). Metal4 is in the LEF file under OBS. Does anyone know a way to get this running in openlane without using metal5? Goal: hardened macro. At the moment I get metal4-metal4 overlaps under the PDN rails

definetly hard to do with srandarcells. Maybe if it is a macro block?

Actually tried it as a macro-block first, but found there are offsets between the macros and I need to make sure they all touch 2 rails of the core-PDN on met5. A bigger macro-block-size is a possible solution, indeed, but I'd prefer to get a smaller standard-cell working. My alternative is a cell with Poly-Substrate Cap. With mimcap it would just be more efficient

Standard cell flow is hard to do. I would recommend sticking with macro-block and just decreasing step of the PDN grid.

Also multirow cells are not supported. Depending the size of the macro, you might get into too much work

Yes it's hard, but my macro is hardened when it's done. (sorry for dad joke)
I principally have to stay with standard cells, it's a special use-case for research in a mixed-signal design, and I got the flow working already, just not with mimcaps.
As you suggest, a macro cell would likely make sense, but then we could just do it with the analog workflow instead
