The updates to the Tapeout job are as follows:
• A late-breaking mandatory update by Skywater, now necessary for fabrication, is accommodated in this update. New MR ("manufacturing required") design rules are checked for this purpose.
• Changes in density limits and new density checks for FOM, LI1, POLY, METAL1, METAL2, METAL3, and METAL4.
• We now check to ensure there is only 1 top-level cell hierarchy in the submitted GDS (e.g. "user_project_wrapper" or one of the other equivalents).
• There is a check that cell names do not contain characters that would be rejected by the foundry ('/', '#')
• Zero area geometry check has been added.
• Spike path check. Spikes are paths that fold back on itself.
Going forward Skywater will not accept projects with violations of any of these checks, hence the need to act on this urgently.
We apologize for any inconvenience, and we are here to support you through your preparation, submission, and final tapeout. If you experience any issues as a result of these new checks, please let us know as soon as you can and we'll be ready to assist.
