@Mitch Bailey why do we have the empty area beyond the orange line and pads? can we use that area ?

I don’t think that all the layers are displayed - namely met4 and met5. I think the region you’re asking about is the location of the power rails in caravel. You might be able to use this area in caravan - the XOR precheck should flag any problems. The orange layer is probably the automatically generated lowTapDensity marker layer 81/14 which is derived as cell boundary - 250um.

But below metal4 and 5 area is empty to use? @Mitch Bailey

Currently, I think the XOR check in precheck won’t allow that. I might be a good suggestion though.

Pls help to verify so that I can use the area, can efabless help ignore xor errors there?

. You should be able to use anything in that region. Beyond that area and before the pads, is a standard cell region of caravel that you cannot use.

So the orange line is prBoundary?

In klayout, prBoundary may be the first layer in the layer menu. The orange line is lowTapDensity.
