I hope my feedback about the idea of organizing a hackathon in the hope of flushing out sloppy design and documentation of critical design infrastructure, and even adding more sloppily designed "helper" tools to compensate (and exacerbate) insufficient understanding of the advanced technology in the simulation, schematic capture, and layout tools is coming across clear enough.
