Hi @Tim Edwards. I am looking for QFN package for
caravan
wrapper. What will be the pin1 on the QFN package and how the bonding diagram looks like for caravan wrapper? Can you please provide me some information? I found one bonding diagram for caraval but couple of pin location are different.
t
https://github.com/efabless/caravel_board/blob/main/docs/caravel_qfn_bond.pdf The pin locations are exactly the same for caravan as for caravel.
n
@Tim Edwards I can not find any vddio (pin 64) on caravan wrapper. There is one io_analog[10]. Is vddio removed in caravan?
t
No, VDDIO is not a user supply; it is the main GPIO and ESD power supply for the chip. If you need a 3.3V supply in a user project,
vdda1
and
vdda2
are available. If you are using Caravan, then the three analog pads in the center can be connected up to the clamps underneath and be used as additional 3.3V supplies.

I am using those three pins which are io_analog[5] , io_analog[6] and io_analog[7] for 5V supplies to test different circuits. VDDIO is not present in the caravan wrapper therefore I am just confused about the pin connections from wrapper to package. Moreover, there are 10 pins at top of caravan wrapper while In the QFN package diagram there are 11 pins.
How is the VDDIO provided in the chip?
t
The chip and package don't match up exactly because the package is square while the chip is rectangular. You can look at the bonding diagram in the caravel_board repository to see how the package pins relate to the chip pins.

@Tim Edwards I checked the layout of complete caravan wrapper I got after a tapeout job. There are some pins which are not not used for external connections. There is vddio on the left side and one other pin on the top between io_analog[4] and io_analog[5]. These pins were messing up my numbering
