John Gustafson doesn't post often, but this is important: The Conference on Next-Generation Arithmetic will be held as a virtual conference February 20–21. No charge for participation. Paper submissions due January 20. See
https://lnkd.in/gxjKAcM7 for details. This is the premier conference for novel approaches to computer arithmetic, in contrast to legacy floating-point formats (which are covered by the ARITH conference series). If we get enough submissions, as we have in the previous five CoNGA conferences, the results will be published by Springer as a Proceedings. If you don't want to submit but want to participate, that's also free of charge… just register.

The world has moved beyond the proprietary Intel 8087 coprocessor design of the late 1970s that became the "IEEE Standard". The demands of everything from AI to HPC deserve a modernized approach, and that is what CoNGA is about. Please submit papers to the site by January 20, 2024, and in any case please register for the free virtual conference. This is the conference that follows the future of computer arithmetic, not the legacy.
