Hi, does anyone know if GFMPW-1 is able to also accept analog design submissions? I currently built my entire project on SKY130. So would it possible to redo the project for submission on GFMPW-1? Or is it simply not made for that?
m
Currently, gfmpw-1 does not support analog io.

I am considering a way to get analog support but I'm not sure if it will actually work for the GFMPW-1 tapeout. I will need to do a test submission.

@Tim Edwards just to be clear, you’re working on running analog signals through the gpio cells, right? Are there any bare analog pads planned like in sky130
caravan
?
t
No, I have not planned anything like caraven for gf180mcu (yet). This particular idea would be to provide a connection from the user project wrapper to the pad, much like the analog connection on the sky130 GPIOs. I can make an overlay layout that does this. The question is whether the overlay being outside the boundary of the user project wrapper is going to cause issues with chip assembly (other than causing precheck to fail, but that can be overridden).

Just saying, hopefully there will be future MPW that would support analog design very soon…

Hi all! Can we include analog designs with GSG pads and not use standard IO at all? Can anyone guide how can we do that for the upcoming gf180mcu shuttle? Any help would be appreciated!
m
Although it may be physically possible to create a layout that doesn’t connect to caravel, you’d have to access the bare dies with a prober. The gfmpw-1 shuttle is sponsored by Google and they have the final word in what types of designs are permissible and what is finally shipped. Part of their philosophy is that the open source designs would be accessible and have merit to the community.

Google isn't paying for any additional handling of wafers, so we can't provide bare dies from GFMPW-1. Okay, sorry about that; I wasn't aware of the deal that was made with Google.

Just got confirmation that Google is supporting bare dies! Half will be packaged and half will be bare. So as long as the design passes precheck, you should be good using internal pads.

Thank you for confirming that!
