@Andrew Wright In the “How we fixed Caravel” video you mentioned that there was a check that made sure every pin had a constraint. Is this a check that can be done automatically?

Eric, Yes unconstrained ports and paths are both parts of standard timing reports in commercial tools. I have not driven Open STA myself yet but based on the documentation it appears to support all of the appropriate commands so it should be both possible and relatively quick to automate the check. This in addition to providing guidance to users in the form of a template, checklist or a set of checks to be automated should enable us to rapidly increase the quality of timing analysis.
Eric, I've confirmed that the check can be done and automated. (The available report is not currently as nice as we would like ). Unfortunately the report is also not part of our current pre-check. We are disucssing how to add it for the future. Best, A
