@Mitch Bailey: You should be able to use GDS layers in another layer recipe---it should not have to be a templayer. I think the problem is that you are creating what are effectively templayers (rawdnwell, rawisosub) because they have no associated GDS layer:purpose pair, but you are marking them as layers. (I could also be wrong.)
