@User look at the picture, top part shows a schematic, lower part is how a schematic looks if no symbols are found (empty search path). as you can see most of the circuit is just symbol placements (=components), including pins, wire labels, page title, simulator commands... Even the erc 'Missing Symbol' marker is a symbol (this is guaranteed to exist and to be found, as it is part of the installation, lol).
