A common circuit topology consists of a long straight net and several components attached to it (think of a supply net and resistors or MOS transistor sources). By default net is not broken into pieces simply by attaching a component, however if user wishes there is a function to cut wires at component junctions. So in my view if a net -ends on- or -passes through- a component pin it is considered a valid connection.
