@User : I'm leaning toward KiCAD as a schematic tool. However, my understanding from @User is that the file format is changing in version 6.0.0 and not wanting to start with a soon-to-be-deprecated version, I am trying to run KiCAD version 6. I keep ending up with more questions than answers.
