While installing XSCHEM , i'm not able to see the symbols (shows missing symbol). What could be the problem here ?

This is because your symbol paths are incorrect I think. Make sure your xschem rc file sets them up correctly. If you press insert to add a new part you should see coloured links on the left hand side to various symbol libraries, if you don't then that's probably a sign that the paths are not being added
