@User In many cases (in my working experience at least) "fast" empirical device models written by ''cad support teams'' turned out to be even slower than the most precise analytical BSIM model, because of discontinuities/poorly written equations. Even a single device with a poorly written empirical model can slow down or even make the simulator fail to converge on a very big design.
