Hi. I am studying about design rules. I looked at the sky130 grules. I don't quite understand what “grulesobj[”poly“][”mcon“] = {”min_enclosure“: 0.05, ‘min_separation’: 0.06}” means. I believe min_separation means minimum spacing, and min_enclosure means overlap. It seems to me that both enclosure and separation cannot be satisfied. Can someone please tell me what they mean? Preferably with a diagram, please.

mcon may connect to both poly and local interconnect. When used to connect to poly, the enclosure rule would be used. When used to connect to li, the poly spacing rule would be used. I thought it was metal1 - mcon - li - licon - poly but there may be a rule preventing mcon from straddling poly.

Thank you very much for your help! I was convinced!
