How do I go from xschem to layout?

If you can create a spice netlist from xschem, I believe @Tim Edwards mentioned that you could input that and all the devices would be automatically generated. You have to rearrange and connect them though.

That's right. In magic, menu item

File --> Import SPICE

does that.

Then you are not using the sky130 startup script. Be sure to run magic with the option

-rcfile $PDK_ROOT/sky130A/libs.tech/magic/sky130A.magicrc
