Hi All, I have one question regarding MIM caps in sky 130 pdk. I do not see any antenna rules in DRC for
mim caps
. However, the lower metal layer of mim cap is already connected to upper layer using via in parametric cell. Is that enough to not have any antenna violation or should I consider something else as well in my design? Please tell me if anyone knows any other design rule I should follow while using mim caps.

That's a complicated issue. The problem is that the design rules that we got and made public were from an earlier version of the process that did not have MiM caps except in one variant, and the sky130 MiM caps are different. There were no antenna rules listed for MiM caps. However, based on other foundry processes I have worked with, MiM caps are definitely an antenna issue. I decided that it was safest to just have a parameterized cell that brings the lower plate contact up to the upper metal. If you connect to this contact, you will be following "best practices". If you connect directly to the bottom plate, you will not be violating any rules, according to SkyWater.

@Tim Edwards Ok. Thank you so much for your answer. So for a m3 - m4 mim capacitor, I have to use metal4 to route from both the plates or can I route metal 3 (for bottom plate) from over the via contact since bottom plate is already up using via?
