Mohamed, as you know, as an industry we have shunned open source or at least been very hesitant. I worry that generative AI will flourish in the wider SW community, while languishing in semi's. Already, we now that LLM's are trained on a ton of open source SW, with only a small set of semiconductor-specific SW because most of it is proprietary. We start with a big handicap. Then, the most likely path forward is big companies train or fine tune using their own RTL, etc and each EDA company has a closed-source product. Rather than act as community, we will act separately as if use of AI is a competitive differentiator rather than an engineering tool. In the end we have engineers reinventing the AI wheel over and over, stuck in the mundane. AND, worst, we fall further behind the greater SW world and less able to attract new talent.
