hello all, i have this simple testbench right here where i'm testing the use of the RF port. i specified the power to be 1mW and the port impedance to be 50ohm so Vin is supposed to be 316mV but i'm getting 223mV. anyone knows what i'm doing wrong here?

It seems to be a Pk/Avg issue as 316/sqrt(2) = 223 (remember, Vpk/sqrt(2) = Vavg for a sine).
m
Yeah i noticed but it’s supposed to generate Vpeak equal to 316mV so that the load receives the input power which is 1mW under matching conditions
h
Are you forgetting the internal 50 ohm source impedance of the Vin generator?
m
No I'm not forgetting the source impedance but when comparing this Port to the Port in Cadence, in Cadence, the port generates twice the input voltage level so that at matching condition, the load receives the specified input power. for example, if the input power is 1mW, then that means Vpeak is equal to 316mV at matching conditions, so the port will generate 632 input voltage so that the load receives the full 1mW input power
